Terms of Service

Last updated: August 30, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Katman MQTT Client ("Katman", "we", "us", or "our"), including the Katman MQTT Client desktop application and related websites and services.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Katman, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use Katman.

1. The Service

Katman MQTT Client is a desktop application designed to help users connect to, monitor, analyze, and interact with MQTT-based systems.

Katman is provided as software for users who work with MQTT, industrial automation, IoT, and related systems.

2. Account

Some features of Katman may require you to create or sign in to an account.

Authentication may be provided through third-party authentication providers such as Auth0 and Google.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity performed through your account.

3. MQTT Connections and Your Data

Katman is a client application. Connections to MQTT brokers are established by you.

You are responsible for:

  • The MQTT brokers and systems you connect to.
  • The credentials, certificates, keys, and other authentication information you provide.
  • The topics and messages you publish or subscribe to.
  • Ensuring that your use of Katman complies with applicable laws and the rules of the systems you connect to.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Katman does not operate or control the MQTT brokers you connect to.

4. Local Data

Katman may store configuration, connection information, logs, payloads, templates, certificates, and other application data locally on your device depending on the features you use.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and locally stored data.

Katman does not automatically transmit your MQTT messages or broker data to our servers merely because you use the application.

5. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Katman for your personal or business purposes.

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Katman except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Katman without our written permission.
  • Circumvent licensing or technical restrictions.
  • Use Katman to violate applicable laws or the rights of others.

6. Paid Features

Certain features may require payment or a valid license.

Prices, available plans, and licensing terms will be presented at the time of purchase.

Unless otherwise stated, a license is associated with the account or device configuration specified during purchase.

We reserve the right to change pricing for future purchases. Changes will not retroactively alter the price of a purchase already completed.

7. Updates

We may release updates, bug fixes, security patches, and new versions of Katman.

Some updates may be necessary to maintain compatibility, security, or functionality.

We do not guarantee that every version of Katman will remain compatible with every operating system, MQTT broker, third-party service, or hardware configuration indefinitely.

8. Third-Party Services

Katman may interact with third-party services, including authentication, payment, analytics, distribution, or infrastructure providers.

Your use of those services may also be subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

9. Availability

We aim to provide a reliable product, but we do not guarantee that Katman or any related online service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Because Katman may be used with third-party MQTT brokers, networks, devices, and infrastructure, we cannot guarantee the availability or reliability of systems outside our control.

10. Disclaimer

Katman is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

You are responsible for evaluating whether Katman is suitable for your particular environment and use case.

You should maintain appropriate backups and operational safeguards when using Katman with production or safety-critical systems.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from your use of Katman.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using Katman at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access to account-based services where reasonably necessary, including in cases of fraud, abuse, unlawful use, or material violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

When we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice where required by applicable law.

Your continued use of Katman after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the legal entity operating Katman, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights applicable to you.

15. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us through the contact information provided on the Katman website.
